Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D.P. SHENFELDER / READING. PA," circa 1870, ovoid jar with incised banding to midsection, tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated with an undulating, flowering vine. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 2" area of restoration along top edge of one handle. A 5 1/2" hairline on underside, continuing 9" up proper right side of jar. A thin 2" crack from rim on proper right side of jar. H 13 1/2".
