Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "JCM," attributed to Daniel Seagle, Lincoln County, NC, circa 1840, ovoid jug with tooled spout, impressed at shoulder with "JCM" mark above a two-gallon capacity, the surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze. As stated in the research of North Carolina collectors and historians, Tom and Lana Kleeberg, pieces bearing a "JCM" mark were made by Daniel Seagle for John Michal or his father, Johann Conrad Michal, who were members of a prominent Lincoln County, NC family, merchants, and associates of the Seagles. Missing handle. Otherwise excellent condition. H 12 1/2".
