Exceptional Glazed Redware Teapot with Two-Color Slip Decoration, American, 19th century, ovoid form with footed base, flared rim, and tooled accents to upper body, fitted with a short, broad spout on the front and semi-rounded handle on the reverse; lead-glazed surface profusely-decorated throughout with copper-slip spots bordered by manganese slip, applied over a yellowish clay ground. Includes original lid with raised finial and matching glaze scheme. Rare form and extraordinary decoration resembling peacock's eyes. Spout with blunting and old paint residue to tip. Shallow chipping around base. Light wear to rim. Some small chips to lid. H (including lid) 6 3/4".
