Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Bobby Ferguson / Gillsville, Ga," circa 1980, ovoid jug with single applied handle at shoulder, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied clay face with goatee and open mouth with china teeth. Incised details to hair and goatee. Surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze with brown slip highlights. Underside incised with Bobby Ferguson signature. Made early in Ferguson's career while he was making and trucking garden ware. Provenance: Stan Clark, February 22, 2013; Carl and Marian Mullis Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10".
