Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Whelchel / Meaders / Mossy Creek / Pottery," Cleveland, GA origin, 21st century, wheel-thrown jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including kaolin eyes with green-slip eyes, ears, raised eyebrows, nose with carved nostrils, and smiling mouth with cut and applied kaolin teeth. Mottled brown alkaline glaze to surface. Underside with incised Whelchel Meaders signature. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection; purchased by the above directly from Whelchel Meaders. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10 1/2".
