Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed Michel Bayne, Greenville, SC origin, early 21st century, wheel-thrown jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including kaolin eyes and teeth, the surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze. Executed in the Edgefield, South Carolina style. Black marker signature on underside. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection; acquired by the above directly from Michel Bayne. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 4 3/4".
