Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, Dated 1987, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including kaolin eyes with cobalt-slip pupils, ears, nose, chin, and crooked mouth with kaolin teeth. Surface covered in a mottled green alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature and 1987 date. A taped sticker, inscribed "AM," on underside may indicate that Arie Meaders was involved in its production. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 9 1/2".
