Rare Sewer Tile Pipe Paperweight, Inscribed "Sample / Portland / Red Body. / Salt-Glazed / Pipe" and "Boston Office / 48 Oliver St.," Portland Stoneware Company, Portland, ME, late 19th century, small molded section of a pipe on stepped base, incised to resemble bricks, featuring an incised inscription along the body identifying it is a salesman's sample, the location of manufacture, type of clay used, and glaze. Rim of pipe incised with the location of the Portland Stoneware Company. Hairlines to underside, one extending 1" onto base and another extending 1/2" onto base. L 2 7/8".
