Exceedingly Rare and Important Blue-Glazed Stoneware Double Face Jug, Inscribed "#2," Signed "Edwin Meaders / 5-18-1994," ovoid jug with two open strap handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a hand-molded and applied face including large ears, pupil-less eyes, nose with carved nostrils, closed mouth, and broad chin. Surface covered in a bright blue glaze with runny green highlights to the eyes. Shoulder incised "#2." Incised Edwin Meaders signature and date on underside. One of a small number of double face jugs made by Edwin Meaders, the appeal of this work is enhance by the intriguing placement of the handles on the figures' foreheads.
