Stoneware Canning Jar with Apple Butter Advertising, Ohio origin, circa 1850s-1860s, tapering jar with flared rim, featuring the impressed advertising, "JOHN HUNT'S / PREMIUM / CIDER / Apple Butter." John Hunt operated his apple butter and mince meat operation during the 1850s and 1860s in Cincinnati, Ohio. A 2 1/4" x 1 1/8" flake to underside. A 7/8" base chip. A thin 2 1/2" crack from rim. A faint 1 3/4" diagonal crack from rim. A few minor rim nicks. H 6 1/8".
