Six-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Akron, OH origin, circa 1870, ovoid cooler with circular bunghole, applied lug handles, tooled shoulder, and tall collar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head, perched on a looping flourish. Elaborate spotted decoration throughout the bird and flourish below. Shoulder decorated with a script "6," underscored by a curved flourish and a series of vertical slashes. Includes wooden spigot. A 1 1/4" flake to opening of bunghole. Some staining to surface. H 15 1/2".
