Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Embossed "MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO / RED WING," MN origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed leaf below a script "4." Rare embossed circular maker's mark on underside. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced Illinois collection. A 9" crack on underside, continuing 9 3/8" up reverse of crock. A few small chips to interior of rim. A short surface line to rim area, visible on top and interior of rim. Some light staining. H 11 1/2".
