Glazed Redware Spittoon, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical form with footed base, rounded rim, recessed circular opening in top, and carved scalloped opening at shoulder, the surface decorated with manganese sponging under a clear lead glaze. Underside impressed with John Bell maker's mark. Large and small base chips, a few rim chips, and some light surface wear. Diam. 9" ; H 5 1/4".
