Exceptional Small-Sized Multi-Glazed Redware Spittoon, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, cylindrical form with footed base, rounded top, recessed circular opening in top, and carved elliptical opening at shoulder. Surface dipped in cream-colored slip, decorated with splashes of copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Potted in an unusually small size and surviving in strong condition, this spittoon is the finest Strasburg multi-glazed example of the form that we have offered. A few small base chips and some stacker residue to underside. Diam. 5 1/8" ; H 2 1/2".
