Rare and Fine Large-Sized Redware Bowl with Two-Color Slip Decoration, Hagerstown, MD origin, early 19th century, flaring form with distinctive, heavily-beaded rim, the lead-glaze interior decorated with straight trails of lime-green copper slip interspersed with wavy trails of manganese slip against a reddish ground. This work is noteworthy for its remarkable state of preservation, difficult to find among pieces of this age, origin, and form, as well as its prodigious size. Provenance: Originally found in Sharpsburg, MD. Excellent condition with a small rim chip and a few small losses to slip. Diam. 15 1/2" ; H 4 1/2".
