Unusual Stoneware Canning Jar with Spotted Cobalt Floral Decoration, Southern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia origin, circa 1860-1875, semi-ovoid jar with narrow, flaring collar, brush-decorated around the shoulder with four stylized, circular flowers surrounded by spots. Two flakes to shoulder. Small chips to exterior of rim. Small chips and wear to interior of rim. A 1 1/4" surface line to exterior of rim, not visible on interior. A minor in-the-firing contact mark to midsection. H 10".
