Extremely Rare Stoneware Flowerpot with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Jr., Richmond, VA, circa 1860, flaring pot of dramatic, stepped form with crimped rim, brush-decorated completely around its body with two rows of graduated swags. Original drain hole in underside. Exceptional form with refined potting. The only intact, cobalt-decorated stoneware flowerpot from the James River Valley of Virginia that we have seen. Very nice condition with a few rim chips. H 6 1/2" ; Diam. (at rim) 6 1/2".
