Extremely Rare Miniature Stoneware Presentation Spittoon, Inscribed "Ella Fairfax / ALEXA VA," attributed to the Milburn Family, Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA, circa 1860, cylindrical form with flared base, recessed circular opening in top, and carved semi-circular opening at shoulder, incised across the side, "Ella Fairfax / ALEXA VA." Potted in an exceptionally small size, this spittoon is one of only a few stoneware presentation pieces known from Alexandria, Virginia. A chip to central hole in top. A minuscule nick to underside at edge. Some surface residue. Diam. 3 3/4" ; H 1 1/2".
