One-Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D.P. SHENFELDER / READING. PA.," circa 1875, wide, cylindrical form with arched tab handles, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with an undulating vine bearing an open-centered tulip. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Two flakes to interior of rim, measuring 1 1/2" and 1". A small chip to reverse end of proper right handle. Diam. 9" ; H 5 1/4".
