Unusual Five-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Urn and Wreath Decoration, Inscribed "W.H.S.," Stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON, PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a wreath surrounding the initials, "W.H.S.," a stylized flower blossom, and a small planted urn. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Flakes to "W.H." of initials and half of "S." missing. A 4" crack on underside, continuing 4 1/4" up base of jug. A thin in-the-firing line to upper and lower handle terminals. H 19".
