Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG PA," circa 1865, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, pierced clay tabs at the shoulder, and handle at base on reverse, brush-decorated on the reverse with a horizontal floral motif featuring a graduated blossom and a wreath surrounding the base of the spout. Cobalt highlights to clay tabs, handle terminals, and maker's mark. Includes tin lid and spout cover. Excellent condition with staining. H 9".
