Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D.P. HOBART, Agent / Williamsport, Pa," circa 1880, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a diagonal tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Wear to cobalt. A small rim chip. A few minor in-the-firing pings to reverse. Minor surface staining. H 9 1/2".
