Exceedingly Rare Stoneware Porch Vase with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "D Ack / Mooresburg PA," circa 1875, large-sized, ovoid form with footed base, flared rim, and rounded open handles, brush-decorated with a large open-centered tulip on the front. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Original drain hole in underside. Imposing in its size and exceptionally rare in form, this work ranks among the finest examples of Ack family stoneware known. Of particular note is the remarkable state of preservation of a piece made for outdoor use. Underside with two flakes and crazing. Interior base with a semi-circular surface line. Reverse of rim with minor chipping to rim and an extremely minor 1/2" surface line to exterior of rim on reverse, not visible on interior. Some shallow, glazed-over chipping to foot on reverse. A 1 1/2" surface line from rim on front, not visible on interior. H 15 1/2" ; Diam. (at base) 8 7/8".
