Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a large cluster of three cherries hanging from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Exceptional size to vessel for this decoration. Spout chips. A few spots of fry to cobalt. Some light wear to midsection. Minor staining. H 11".
