Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CHOLLAR DARBY & CO / HOMER," NY State origin, circa 1835-1839, highly-ovoid jug with squared spout, brush-decorated with a curved-stem tulip, freehand "X," and script "3." Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark and incised "X" below. Three spout chips. In-the-firing flaws, including unglazed areas to surface, two contact marks with adhered clay, and a few iron pings. A few extremely minor glazed-over base nicks. H 15".
