Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Man-in-the-Moon Decoration, Stamped "E.W. FARRINGTON & CO. / ELMIRA, N.Y.," circa 1887-1893, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, brush-decorated with a profile of a human face emanating from a curved stem of leaves. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Desirable design and size. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a recently surfaced Northeastern U.S. collection. Excellent condition with some light staining. H 11 1/2".
