Very Rare Stoneware Bottle with Incised Mouse Decoration, Signed "BWP / 1878," probably White's Utica, New York State origin, 1878, ovoid vase with footed base and tall, narrow spout, decorated with an artistic incised design of a mouse feeding on a piece of wheat. Reverse with incised floral decoration. Neck and base with impressed geometric motifs. Cobalt highlights to incised decoration and impressed decoration. Two rows of impressed designs and two incised lines at the neck include highly unusual white slip highlights. Clear salt-glazed surface. Underside incised with the potters conjoined initials, "BWP," and the date, "1878." Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 7 3/4".
