Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / FORT EDWARD . N Y," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Heavy chipping to interior of rim. Some fry to cobalt. Circumferential wear around top of rim appears to be in-the-making. A chip and minor ping to proper left handle. H 12 1/2".
