One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a stylized stump. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. A 1" in-the-firing chip to underside at edge. A 1 7/8" flake to rim. A small glazed-over rim chip. A small in-the-firing iron ping near base. A faint, approximately 2 1/2" line on underside, not visible on interior and likely in-the-firing. H 9 1/4".
