One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "C.W. BRAUN / BUFFALO N.Y.," circa 1870, ovoid jug with tapered spout, featuring a slip-trailed design of a bird with cross-hatched tail, swag-decorated wing, and swag-and-spot-decorated body, perched on a scrolled stem Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Staining to surface. A 7/8" in-the-firing flake to side of jug. A tiny in-the-firing flaw above bird with a 1 1/4" Y-shaped line extending through it. A faint 5/8" surface line below maker's mark. A small in-the-firing contact mark to handle. Some small in-the-firing iron pings to surface. A small chip to interior of spout. H 12 1/2".
