One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "S D KELLOGG. / WHATELY," MA origin, circa 1851-1853, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed floral design featuring scrolled stems. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 1 5/8" flake to top of spout. An in-the-firing contact mark with some clay residue at base on reverse. In-the-firing crazing to base, extending a short distance onto underside. Some crazing to handle, likely in-the-firing. H 11 1/2".
