One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Bird Decoration, attributed to Somerset Potters Works, Somerset, MA, third quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and elaborate rim molding, decorated on the front with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a looping flourish, below a series of cobalt dashes. Spout area decoration with a slip-trailed vine underscored by spots, further decorated above with dashes flanked by smaller vines. An approximately 2 3/4" curving crack from spout, which has been colored. A small chip to interior of spout and two small chips to interior of rim. H 11".
