Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested parrot with spotted tail, perched on a leaf with dotted trail. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Minor exfoliation to base on front. Scattered exfoliation to reverse. A minor flake to rim on reverse. Chips to interior of rim. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge on reverse. Water glass staining to interior. A 6" vertical line to reverse, not visible on interior. H 9 1/4".
