One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER MASS," circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an abstract slip-trailed foliate design accented with dotted trails. A 1 1/2" chip to bottom edge and a smaller chip to underside near edge. Otherwise the following minor flaws: interior of rim with a small chip and a few minor nicks; proper left handle with two minor nicks and light edge wear; proper right handle with a small chip and light edge wear; a few very minor base chips and minor base wear; and a very minor, approximately 1/2" faint craze line at base on reverse, not visible on interior. Dimensions: Diam. 9 7/8" x H 6 3/4".
