Two-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Dove Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON SONS. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1880, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a dove with looping wing detail, perched on a branch. A 7/8" surface line to rim on front, not visible on interior. Small chips to interior of rim. Nicks to inner rim for lid. A 1 3/4" in-the-firing line on underside, extending 3" up reverse. A few in-the-firing iron pings to surface. Flecks of brownish in-the-firing residue to upper half of churn. Spots of fry to cobalt. H 13 1/2".
