Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER. MASS.," circa 1858-1877, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested parrot with spotted tail, perched on a leaf accented with a dotted trail. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition. Some light bubbling to cobalt. A minuscule nick to one handle. A minor in-the-firing ping to proper right side of churn. A faint, in-the-firing approximately 3" diagonal line on reverse near base. A small flake and minuscule nick to inner rim for lid. Spots of staining to surface. H 15 1/8".
