Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched on crossed leaves, accented with swags and a looping line design. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes wooden stopper. Reverse with a 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake adjacent to a 1 3/8" adhered piece of clay. An in-the-firing contact mark above parrot. A minor in-the-firing flaw below decoration. Light staining to surface. H 15 1/2".
