Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Abstract Bird Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1858-1877, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird in walking stance with ringed neck and looping wing detail. This design is highly unusual for this maker. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., July 16, 2011, lot 97. Crack at base of handle. Two spout chips. Some surface wear. H 11 1/2".
