Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Face Bottle, Incised "Try Me," TN origin, late 19th century, wide-bodied bottle with tall neck and tooled mouth, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied eye with pupil and Roman nose with carved nostrils. Incised below with the slogan, "Try Me." Depressions on the side and reverse of the bottle allow it to be held with ease. Brown slip dip to mouth and salt-glazed surface. One of a small group of Tennessee face bottles known. Provenance: Al Marzorini Collection; Ex-David Good Collection. Very nice condition with a small spout chip, two chips to eyelids, and minor wear to nose. H 8 1/2".
