Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Sr., Baltimore, MD, circa 1825, ovoid jar with footed base, semi-rounded rim, and open loop handles, brush-decorated horizontal tulip motifs at the shoulder and around the circumference of the vessel. Cobalt band at base, highlights to handles terminals, and a curving stripe of cobalt below each handle. A restored 3 1/2" section to rim. Base chips and a 3/4" in-the-firing ping to bottom edge. A hairline across underside, extending 3 1/2" up base. A 1/2" surface flake near base. Some traces of old yellow paint to surface. H 14".
