Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "J.M. PRUDEN, / MANUFACTURER, / ELIZABETH-N.J.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a plant bearing two large leaves flanking a looping tendril. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 2" hairline from rim on front. Rim chips. Chips and wear to inner rim for lid. Two small chips to one handle. Some staining. H 14 1/4".
