One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "S.L.H," Sylvanus Hartsoe, Lincoln County, NC, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. Impressed with Sylvanus Hartsoe maker's mark at shoulder, above a one-gallon capacity mark. Base chips. Traces of old red paint to surface. H 10 3/4".
