Very Rare Stoneware Umbrella Stand with Profuse Incised Floral Decoration, Inscribed "G.W.W. / 1908," attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, 1908, tall, cylindrical form with tooled rim, the surface coated in Bristol slip and lavishly-decorated throughout with three large flowering plants. Incised "G.W.W. / 1908" at shoulder. Cobalt accenting to incised designs and inscription. The only Remmey umbrella stand that we have seen. A restored top-to-bottom crack from rim, extending onto underside. Two chips along this crack are visible on the interior base. A restored 13" crack from rim. A thin 4 1/4" crack at base. A few surface lines on interior. H 19 1/4".
