Rare Stoneware Presentation Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "John A. Roats,"attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, ovoid pitcher with footed base and semi-rounded rim, featuring the incised and cobalt-highlighted name, "John A. Roats," underscored by two leaves flanking a tulip, underscored by a freehand stripe. Unusual wreath-like tulip motif extending across the reverse and onto the sides, underscored by a looping flourish. Swag decoration to collar. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a salt drip to underside. H 9 1/4".
