Fine Lidded Redware Jar with Manganese Decoration, Bristol County, MA origin, late 18th or early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base and flared rim, the lead-glazed surface decorated with streaks of manganese over a mottled orange ground. Includes original lead-glazed lid with tooled accents. Flakes to shoulder, some of which have been varnished. One varnished flake to midsection. Other minor surface wear to jar. Minor glaze wear to exterior of rim and inner rim for lid. Heavy chipping to base. Heavy chipping to lid. H (including lid) 10 1/4".
