Rare and Fine Copper-Glazed Redware Jar, New England origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, flared rim, and arched lug handles, featuring a colorful mottled lead-and-copper glaze over an iron-flecked ground. Appealing opaque runs of copper glaze to shoulder and descending from handle terminals. Interior covered in a clear lead glaze over a salmon-colored ground. A tightly-reglued 2" x 3/4" piece at rim above one handle. A 7/8" rim chip. A shallow chip to each end of one handle. A small chip to opposite handle. A 1 1/4" in-the-making chipped section to foot. Three glaze flakes to body. H 9 3/4".
