One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Floral Decoration, Stonington, CT origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout with semi-rounded mouth, decorated at the shoulder with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted floral motif with detailed blossom. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Two cracks and a minor chip through handle. A spider crack to spout area on proper right side of jug. Chips around base. A 2" line to reverse emanating from a tiny surface chip. A few short lines to base area, continuing a short distance onto underside. Minor traces of old brownish paint to shoulder. H 12 1/2".
