Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Dated "1836," Stamped "CLARK & FOX / ATHENS NY," 1836, highly-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with the slip-trailed date, "1836," surrounded by a stylized oval floral motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An approximately 11 3/4" Y-shaped crack on proper left side of jug. A short hairline from spout forming some tight crazing below the spout. Spout chips. Crazing to base. H 16 1/2".
