Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Howe & Clark, Athens, NY, circa 1805-1813, ovoid, bowl-like jar with footed base, tooled rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with slip-trailed floral motifs featuring a scalloped blossom. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Chips to rim and molding at base of rim. One handle with a 1 1/2" surface crack and small flake. A 1 1/2" chip to bottom edge. Smaller base chips, one of which is glazed over. Some light staining to surface. H 9 1/4" ; Diam. 11 5/8".
