Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Dated 1812," attributed to Howe and Clark, Athens, NY, 1812, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and wide strap handles, decorated on the front with rare slip-trailed War of 1812 era date within a scalloped border and on the reverse with a scrolled foliate motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Essentially as-made condition, the front and reverse shoulder with an in-the-firing contact mark including small surface chips, the reverse of the proper right handle with a small in-the-firing chip. H 11".
